The Office 365 Suite: Why You Should Switch Your Company Now

Microsoft’s Office 365 Business is one of the most helpful and feature-packed productivity software suites out there. It remains a popular choice for organisations everywhere, despite competing services being free. If you’re using Apple’s iWork software or already have an older non-365 version of Office, you might be thinking that Office 365 has no relevance to your business. In this blog, Platform 24 will explore the common objections to switching over to O365B and how Office overcomes them.

My company uses Macs that come with pre-installed productivity software.

The Apple-exclusive software (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) that came on your Macs is just that: Apple-exclusive. If you need to share files with people who prefer PC, compatibility issues will make the process harder than it needs to be. While it’s possible to convert Office documents into iWork files and vice versa, formatting is nearly always compromised, depending on the document’s complexity. It might become harder to read and look sloppy, which is the last thing you want when communicating with clients or partners.

Office 365 is compatible with multiple operating systems, so Windows and MacOS users can collaborate easily. Both parties can enjoy the same features and know that their shared files will always look the way they intended.

I already have Office, and I don’t have to pay for it yearly.

It’s true, Office 365 Business comes with an annual fee since it’s an annual subscription, but you get plenty of bang for buck. You’ll always have the most recent version of Office thanks to monthly updates, and you get exclusive features that will elevate your documents, spreadsheets and presentations to a whole new level. O365B gives you unlimited transfers of your Office installations to other devices, and can be installed on five PCs/Macs, five tablets, and five phones per user. That’s a lot of devices to be productive on!

Speaking of devices, non-365 versions of Office are one-time payments that last the lifetime of the device you install it on, and only that device. Not only is this non-transferrable (in the instance of non-functioning or lost devices), if a computer you have your Office installed on stops working one day, Office goes with it. Considering how expensive the single-use, single-user license for Office Home & Business is, you’ll want to avoid this. Even the most expensive O365B plan works out to be less than 60 cents a day per user!
